Designed Around Your View

Adjust. Align. Capture.

Position your smartphone camera over a compatible eyepiece with the adjustable phone holder and eyepiece clamp. Soft, anti-slip padding at the contact points helps cushion your equipment and reduce slipping when properly fitted. Adjust the setup while watching your camera preview to bring the eyepiece image into view.

Adjustable positioning and padded contact surfaces for compatible phone-and-optic combinations.
01 / PHONE FIT

Adjustable phone width

Accommodates phones measuring 2.3–3.5 inches wide. Measure the phone with its case installed if you intend to leave the case on during use. Total thickness must remain within 0.5 inch.

02 / EYEPIECE FIT

A measured connection

Designed for compatible eyepieces with an outside diameter of 1.0–1.8 inches. Eyepiece shape, eyecup design, and available clamping space also affect fit.

03 / ALIGNMENT

Position your camera

Adjust the phone position to bring the selected rear camera into alignment with the eyepiece. Use the live camera preview to check positioning before taking a photo or recording video.

04 / CONTACT POINTS

Soft, anti-slip padding

Padded contact surfaces help cushion your phone and optic while supporting a secure fit. Keep these surfaces clean and tighten the clamps gently.

05 / FIELD KIT

Compact enough to carry

Weighing approximately 5 oz and measuring approximately 6.3 inches long, PerchFrame adds a compact smartphone mounting option to your outdoor observation kit.

06 / EVERYDAY BIRDING

Keep a visual record

Try capturing perched birds, feeder visitors, and distant nature details through your existing optic. Image quality depends on lighting, focus, alignment, subject movement, and setup stability.

From Setup to Sighting

Set up your view

  1. Prepare your optic. Position it securely and focus on a stationary subject before attaching your phone. A stable support can make alignment easier.
  2. Fit the eyepiece clamp. Seat the adapter on a suitable eyepiece surface and tighten gently. Do not force the clamp or overtighten.
  3. Position your phone. Place the phone in the holder without trapping its side buttons. Remove a bulky case if necessary, and support the phone until it is securely held.
  4. Align the camera. Open your camera app, select the intended rear lens, and adjust the phone until the eyepiece view appears on screen.
  5. Check and capture. Confirm the phone and adapter are secure, refine focus, and use a short shutter timer to help reduce movement when taking a photo.
Viewing tip: A circular image or dark edges may appear depending on your phone and optic. Refine alignment and camera settings as needed. The adapter does not add optical magnification. Never aim an optical instrument at the sun.

Care & handling

Wipe the adapter with a soft, dry cloth and keep grit away from the padded contact surfaces. If it becomes damp, allow it to dry before storing. Avoid immersion, harsh cleaners, and excessive clamping force. Remove your phone before carrying or repositioning the optic, and store the adapter in a clean, dry place.
